BAM is a fast-track program designed to allow qualified students to receive both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in 5 years by allowing the double-counting of up to 9 credits of course work in both degrees.

BAM Courses


The following courses taken while enrolled in the BAM program (typically in the fourth year) can be double counted:

Computer Subfield:


ECE 468 , and 6 credits of 600-level ECE courses in the subfield (excluding ECE 699  credits)

Electro-physics Subfield:


9 credits of 600-level ECE courses of which 6 credits are in the subfield (excluding ECE 699  credits); 3 of the 9 credits can be 400-level ECE course (excluding ECE 495 , ECE 496 , ECE 499 )

Systems and Data Science Subfield:


9 credits of 600-level ECE courses of which 6 credits are in the subfield (excluding ECE 699  credits); 3 of the 9 credits can be 400-level ECE course (excluding ECE 495 , ECE 496 , ECE 499  credits)

Gateway Courses


Students enrolled in the BS program with at least a 3.0 GPA can apply for admission to the BAM program after passing one of the following gateway courses with B+ or higher (typically at the end of the third year).

Faculty recommendation for the BAM program required for Admission.

Notes:

Students must incorporate all focus requirements into this plan. Focus designations (i.e., W, E, O, H) are CRN specific & semester specific.
MATH 251A /MATH 252A /MATH 253A  may be substituted for MATH 241 -MATH 244 . CHEM 171 /CHEM 171L  or CHEM 181 /CHEM 181L  may be substituted for CHEM 161 /CHEM 161L  and CHEM 162 
B+ or better in ECE 361  and 3.0 overall GPA required to apply for BAM.
Plan A: 1 credit of ECE 700  must be registered during the semester of graduation. Students can petition to convert their ECE 699  credits to ECE 700  credits.
Plan B: Elective 400+ from Engr., Natural Sci., SOEST, Business, or by approval. 6 credits of ECE 699  can be substituted by 6 credits in 600-level courses in ECE.

* At most 6 credits of 400-level courses are allowed in graduate level (including double-counted courses).
Graduate Major Subfield (Computer) courses (including double counted) must include 6 cr. in Category I and 3 cr. in Category II.
Graduate Outside Major Subfield courses are from Electrophysics and/or Systems & Data Science subfields.
MS Plan B Elective 4XX+ course is from Engineering, Natural Sciences, SOEST, Business School, or by approval.
